Privacy Policy

1. Information stored on your device

Most HouseMind information is stored locally on your Android device. Depending on how you use the app, this may include:

• Appliance or household item names
• Brands and categories
• Model numbers
• Serial numbers
• Room or location information
• Filter and part numbers
• Notes and status information
• Maintenance and service history
• Service provider or company names
• Maintenance costs
• Photos of appliances or household equipment

HouseMind currently does not require a user account.

2. Appliance photo recognition

When you choose to use the Analyze Item feature, HouseMind sends only the selected appliance or equipment image over an encrypted HTTPS connection to the HouseMind backend for recognition.

The HouseMind backend may send that selected image to OpenAI in order to identify information such as the item type, brand, model number, serial number, or other visible information.

HouseMind is designed not to intentionally retain the submitted recognition image on the backend after the recognition request has been processed.

3. Technical information

HouseMind's backend is hosted using Vercel. Like most internet services, Vercel and the HouseMind backend may process limited technical information necessary to operate the service, such as:

• IP address
• Request date and time
• Server logs
• Error information
• Basic request and performance information

This information is used for security, reliability, troubleshooting, and operation of the service.

4. Advertising and sale of personal information

HouseMind currently does not display advertising and does not use advertising SDKs.

HouseMind does not sell your personal information.

5. Android permissions and device features

HouseMind may use Android system features including:

• The system camera application when you choose to take a photo
• The Android photo picker when you choose an existing photo
• Internet access when you choose to analyze a photo

HouseMind does not require broad access to all photos on your device simply to use the system photo picker.

6. Photos saved by HouseMind

When you save an item to HouseMind, the app may create a resized copy of the selected image and store it inside HouseMind's private Android app storage.

These stored photos are intended to remain private to the app and are not made publicly available by HouseMind.

7. Data retention and deletion

Information stored locally in HouseMind generally remains on your device until you remove it, clear the app's storage, or uninstall HouseMind, subject to Android backup and restore behavior.

Recognition images sent to the HouseMind backend are intended to be processed for the recognition request rather than permanently stored by HouseMind.

8. Security

HouseMind uses reasonable technical safeguards designed to protect information during transmission and storage.

Network recognition requests use HTTPS.

Private API credentials are stored on the server and are not intentionally embedded inside the Android application.

No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Children's privacy

HouseMind is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Future features

HouseMind may add features in the future such as cloud accounts, subscriptions, shared household access, or additional services.

If those features change how information is collected, stored, processed, or shared, this Privacy Policy will be updated before those practices apply.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as HouseMind changes.

The current version will be posted on the HouseMind website with an updated effective date when appropriate.
